Elements of Geography and of Natural and Civil History, 1800, by John Walker.
Measures approx 14x21.5x5.5cm. The original covers are worn with some of the surface leather rubbed away and some pock holes along the spine.
620 pages of dense text; they're all present and correct - I've leafed through and checked! The text pages are remarkably clean and bright. The odd mark and brown spot but few and far between. Some margin loss p119. In Part 4 the pages become noticeably more browned from off-setting of the printer's ink, but remain clear and legible. pp343 to 346 are detached. pp359-364 have become detached in the past and re-attached with a metal tack, and the outside edges have been bumped and creased. The pages become bright again, then with America the browness from off-setting recurs.
All 30 plates are present, including the 24 excellent maps. All plates fold out, typically with 3 vertical folds but sometimes a horizontal fold making a flap along the top.
Maps – 24 in total. Good condition, very little spotting and creases tend to be sharp without the normal secondary creasing. Many of them look very fresh. No splits or tears; some light creasing along the bound ends. There is off-set browning on most of the maps - light brown and fairly even - some more affected as pointed out below...
World (Plate 1) – frontispiece map, so more wear, detached, some spotting, mainly along left side and top. Good, dark impression
