For those who don't know, Buffet introduced three additional variations of the classic R13 specifically for the European market: The BC20; S1 and Continentale, all three being pedigrees out of the same R13 stables,so to speak.
This particular Continentale, with the auxiliary Eb lever, is an absolute gem of a clarinet. Made with German silver, the key work is absolutely outstanding with not a hint of plating wear.
The wood has no cracks, splits or repairs.
Completely overhauled with white Prisini pads, this beautiful clarinet is ready to sing!
Any R13 or varient of this late 70's early 80's era plays incredibly sweetly with that unmistakable R13 sound that's unmistakable. A bit like the sound of a Merlin engine.
A perfect professional level clarinet for any aspiring clarinettist.
Highly and favourably reviewed, this clarinet was designed to offer slightly different tonal colours to the somewhat limited range of Buffet models at the time.
From orchestral/operatic and jazz to the colourful sounds of folk, this clarinet has infinitely more versatility and depth of tone than many modern top range models which I've heard referred to as 'soulless'
Anyone who has heard recordings of the clarinetists of the day might argue that these were the best tonal sounds ever produced by the clarinet.
This clarinet plays beautifully.
Logos faded, but very much evident.
Even the case is beautiful, and easily the most beautiful iconic case Buffet ever produced.
The ribbon inside the case reads: Buffet Crampon The Sweetest Clarinet Ever Made.
And they're right
