My Volkswagen splitscreen right hand drive bus, its not a show winner by any standard but it looks cool enough to me
The bus isn't perfect but its solid and very usable. couple of faults would be that the front doors aren't a two piece construction anymore as someone before me welded them together, also its not a factory 13 window again the same guy with his welder
front beam upgrade from red9 design which includes new brake disc conversion and new steering rack assembly and more to the point add multi ride height adjustment see link for more info http://www.red9design.com/type2.htm
sitting on brm wheels with very good condition tyres
The interior is very basic as its just a rock and roll bed with custom covered cushions to match the front seats were recently reupholstered by Bromsgrove auto trimmers in a lovely vintage style suede faux leather mix fabric. They did mention that if you needed any more of the fabric to give them a call for a reduced rate
A Rusty Lee full width Rock and Roll bed has been fitted http://www.vwrustylee.com/
Sound proofed using the full noise killer kithttp://www.nkgroup.co.uk/product/motorhome-and-van-vw-camper-kit/
New lower half painted back to original factory released colour vw Sea Blau
This has been my bus and in the time I've owned it I have done all the above additions but , The bus sometime in its life has gone through a major restoration project including all the nasty horrible welding that these old buses need and some of the welds aren't brilliant. The interior apart from the seats etc has had a full set of new plywood door panels fitted and the headlining is simply spray glued carpet.
Mexican AD engine 1600cc
standard gearbox , replaced worn bushes etc
disc brakes on the front and original drum brakes on the rear
carb upgraded to a weber 34/36
lightened flywheel
single quiet pack exhaust
new battery
new coil
new 009 distributor
new plugs and leads plus electric ignition
comedy air horn as well as a very loud normal horn
mjc products custom made steering wheel .
The bus isn't an original 13 window from the factory it very much looks from inside that someone in the bus's life added the extra windows. From outside though you really cant tell I've included some photos from the inside you show what I mean.
Overall the bus is ready to go, all mot'd until July 2017
I have tried to be as open and honest about my bus
The bus is in Bexleyheath, Kent
