Hello, I am selling my car. It is a Skoda Octavia, automatic. At the time of writing (26/04/2024) it has 80047 miles. It has a built in rear-view mirror dash-cam, all the official Skoda floor mats and boot covers, sat-nav and a good quality spare tyre. It had a new "AGM096 Start/Stop 12V Car Battery 5 Year Guarantee" fitted just before Christmas. It had a service just last month. I got this for peace of mind for myself and for any potential buyers. I mentioned to the guy at the garage that I am selling it and I asked him to check it out and tell me if there were any problems. He didn't go into too much detail but he told me everything was all good. I've never had any major problems with the car and I am still using it day to day. The are only 2 negative things to say about the car. First, there is a dent on the rear passenger side of the car, just after the door (see pics) and some other small scuffs/wear and tear that I have taken into account. Second is that it was once registered as a taxi. I bought this car at the beginning of November back in 2019 specifcally for it to be used as a private hire taxi. It was registed as such and used somewhat full time as a taxi for all of 3 months before we all went into lockdown. And that was that. It stayed registed for the next couple of years, I would do the odd weekend or bank holiday, but I had since got a new job - as you can see from mileage it was never used full time as a taxi again. I can't speak for any other "ex-taxi" cars but the only taxi related problem you will have with this car is if you want to sell it to a place like We Buy Any Car or Money 4 Your Motor. From what I have read online they can check to see if a car was ever used as a private hire taxi/hire car/emergency vehicle etc; if they do check, and they see it was registered as any of these, they will view it the same way they view a dent in your car; as an excuse to knock lots of money of the price they originally quoted you. Regarding full service history, the person before me kept all their paperwork, as have I, but unlike the person before me who was having his MOT and service completed at Johnsons Skoda, I have just been getting mine completed at a local garage - their receipts, if any, are just the price written on a piece of paper. Looking through now I can see there is one that is signed at least. It had water pump/cam belt replaced on 28/09/2022 at Johnsons Skoda. I have the paperwork to confirm this. The electronics and air con work fine. Every now and again on start up I will get a notification to "check number plate lighting". However I mentioned this to the garage when I took it in for the service last month and it hasn't happened since. Yes, the car comes with 2 keys and all the handbooks.
