The instrument was made by order of the Acme trademark at the Malerne factory, which in the 50-70s was one of the top five in France and made instruments for such brands as Buffet, M. Pierre, Martin, etc. The list can be viewed on the website saxgourmet.com/saxophone-stencil-makers The production was located in the same city as Selmer and others. Later in the 1970s, the factory was sold to the famous SML brand. This is one of those manufacturers that does not have a well-known name, but produces excellent instruments. "Robert Mahlerne made some really good instruments, he was a contemporary of the famous Noblet and Le Blanc and obviously worked very closely with them. He worked as a luthier at Noblet and played in the band Le Blanc. The instruments that Robert made were usually intended for the American market. His company was bought in the 70's and his connection to Noblet and Le Blanc goes back to 1904 from what little information I have gathered from online sources.He retired in 1975 - to SML because management (essentially his niece) and his equipment were highly regarded by SML, the maker of the iconic saxophone. SML made saxophones for only five or six years after that and is now concentrating on oboes." Institute from the late 50s, very high quality made of thick metal, quite heavy, definitely of a professional level. Has a typically French sound. And all this for relatively little money. In-nt is in full working order: cleaned, lubricated, adjusted and covered with new cushions. No dents, dark yellow original varnish. Imported from the USA. Serial No. 3986. The number on the body corresponds to the number on the Esque and on the G# key. The case is a semi-rigid backpack.
