This character, "Akira," was originally created by popular illustrators Takumi Yano and Tomonobu Kagawa, who operate the well-known circle "Skapon-do." It was initially drawn by Yano in 1998 as an illustration to celebrate reaching 90,000 visitors to the Skapon-do website (90000HIT commemoration). As a gesture of celebration and to share the joy with fans, this character adorned the top of the Skapon-do website for a period of time. It was during this period that BOME, at the 1999 summer Wonder Festival, announced the garage kit that served as the origin for this product. For the PVC productization of Akira, there was a request from Yano, which led to the introduction of the corset and skirt removal gimmick. In line with this, several design details were also revised. They added a bit of an "H" (adult) gimmick to the cute and clean design, expanding its play value even further. ■Interview with BOME My first encounter with Takumi Yano's drawings was when I stumbled upon a dojinshi at a store. I distinctly remember feeling greatly inspired by his work, and even at that time, I harbored the desire to transform his creations into 3D figures. Later on, I learned that Mr. Yano's artwork would be showcased at a dojinshi fair. Without an appointment, I traveled to Tokyo to meet him. I recall expressing my interest in turning his characters into figures when I met with Mr. Yano, and he graciously agreed. It wasn't until after that encounter that the Sukapon-do website reached over 90,000 hits, unveiling the character image of Akira. I then returned to Tokyo and asked Mr. Yano for permission to create a figure based on it. That figure served as the foundation for this PVC edition. For this new edition, I consulted with Mr. Yano, and together, we decided to incorporate an additional disrobing element. I believe this adds a new dimension to this series of items. Mr. Yano, I sincerely thank you for your cooperation. About Mr. Bome.   The name "BOME" is an abbreviation of the nickname "Boushi Megane," which was given to him because he always wore a hat and glasses.  He has been active as a prototype artist for bishojo (beautiful girl) figures since the 1980s. While the method had not yet been established at that time, he gained many fans by presenting delicate expressions that were closer to the original drawings.

His works such as "Neon Genesis Evangelion," "Urusei Yatsura," and "Sailor Moon" have been highly acclaimed, and solo exhibitions have been held in Japan and abroad. He also continues to collaborate with contemporary artist Takashi Murakami, and in 2001 was invited to the Fondation Cartier in France as the "King of Otaku" . In addition, he has exhibited at the Wonder Festival.

On December 14, 2022, he was awarded the Commissioner for Cultural Affairs Award for his significant contribution as a supporter of contemporary Japanese culture through his outstanding modeling skills.
