ANTIQUE EARLY C19th SLIPWARE? TEAPOT WITH PEWTER LID
This attractive antique teapot is an early piece. We would estimate it to date from the early nineteenth century, although it may be earlier. It has a round bulbous shape and attractive smooth decoration with an iridescent finish. It has a hinged pewter top and rim. We believe it to be of English origin although it is unmarked.
Condition: Very good condition with some wear consistent with age and use. Overall a little grubby. It is badly crazed inside with staining. There are some flaws in the glaze as might be expected. The pewter lid is a little misshapen and has some denting. It is pulled / dented to one side of the hinge. The lid is tarnished.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
21cm long (spout to handle), 16cm high. (Ref. #13345)
