Rare Pair of Antique Victorian Bohemian Czech Franz Welz Tri-lobed Heart Aventurine Spatter Glass Vases c1890
Here on offer is a gorgeous pair of antique tri-lobed heart aventurine splatter glass vases by the Czech maker Franz Welz, dating to c1890.
The Franz Welz, also known as Antonienhutte, glassworks was founded in Bohemia in 1728 and was in production until the late 1930s. Welz was noted for a wide range of colourful glass, including splatter and tango glass.
This is a gorgeous pair of 1890's Bohemian green, pink, cranberry and white blown glass vases, made using a technique known as "Splatter" or "Spatter" glass, with green coloured copper Aventurine inclusions. The glass is hand blown in opaque white to enhance the colour, then rolled in coloured glass and metallic powder to produce the glittery effect and finally encased in clear glass. There is the delightful addition of clear glass rigaree decoration and feet.
There are some minor nibbles around the rims, one petal foot is chipped.
This gorgeous pair is offered in good used antique condition, they measure about 18cm tall by 9cm at the widest point.
This pair would make a great addition to a themed collection.
Please see my pictures for the details of the condition.
