The movement to this clock is excellent being a very good quality chain fusee movement. The dial is signed with 'GVR' and a crown and is also signed 'INGRAM BROS. WOOD GREEN, LONDON'. THIS IS NOT A REPRODUCTION THIS IS AN AUTHENTIC FUSEE GPO CLOCK. The case is made from wonderful SOLID mahogany which has some superb grain and is a wonderful colour. The case has a wonderful patina which can only be gained through age. Ingram Bros Clocks were commissioned to build high quality fusee movements for British government buildings such as railway stations, schools, post offices and some factories. If we start with the dial this is a white dial marked out with Roman numerals. The bezel is cast brass. There is also a catch mechanism for closing and releasing the dial. There is one side door which allows the movement to be viewed when opened. There is also a door in the base of the clock which allows the pendulum to be hung, this is complete with it's lock and key which are fully working. The dial and movement are held in place with lovely wooden pegs (all four pegs are present). The back box is nice quality and has dovetail joints. The movement itself is excellent being a single chain fusee movement. The clock is happily ticking away but could benifit from a clean and service. The bottom edge of the movement is also stamped with the number '1267'. The clock comes complete with it's winding key and pendulum. As this is a George V clock the clock is circa 1910 to 1936. The approximate dimensions are: - 15.5 inches (39.5 cm) in diameter across the case - 6 inches (15 cm) deep - 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter across the dial With regards condition, the clock is in good original condition, as can be seen from the photographs. The dial is in lovely original condition there is slight fading to the name and there are some chips and flaking to the dial as would be expected. Please note due to the flaking some further loss of paint could occur during postage, therfore it is recommended for colection in person or courier delivery as an alternative to posting. The case is also in nice condition just minor marks commensurate with age as can be seen from the photographs and the bottom door has some damage to it and one peg is lacking (please view photographs).
