This antique skimmer ladle features a wrought iron handle with a rat tail end hanging hook and a pierced brass bowl portion. The piece is believed to date back to the early 19th century and originates from the US Northeast region. The ladle is of medium size, measuring 17-1/2" length, overall, with the slightly oval brass bowl portion measuring 5-1/2" x 5-1/8". The original copper rivet connections to the bowl portion remain firmly in place. The ladle could be used as intended or displayed. It is in beautiful estate condition with NO breaks, NO repairs and NO restorations. It shows only authentic age appropriate signs of wear to the brass, as shown in the photos. The wrought iron connector and hanging hook are wonderfully finished.
