It has an eight-day movement on a square painted dial. The clock is in perfect working order having recently been professionally cleaned and serviced. This clock is absolutely perfect for anyone looking for a clock to place straight into their home. If we start with the hood this has a lovely Architectural pediment finished with moulded cornice. Lovely delicate reeded columns flank the hood door which finish in brass capitals. There are nice simple back splats. The hood door is nicely cross banded in mahogany. If we then move down to the trunk this has beautifully shaped full-length door, which has been nicely cross banded in mahogany. The trunk door is then flanked by quarter reeded columns. The door also complete with it's lock and key which is fully working. As with the trunk door the base incorporates some nice mahogany cross banding and has a lovely applied panel which has also been mahogany cross banded. The base is raised on ogee bracket feet. The eight-day movement with makers name of 'RT Fletcher, Chester', striking the hour has a square painted dial. It also has a subsidiary second dial and date aperture. The four corners are adorned with beautiful finely painted flowers and strawberries frames in gilded gesso work whilst the centre incorporates beautiful sprays of flowers which again have been superbly painted. There are two 'R. Fletcher, Chester' listed in ‘Clockmakers of Cheshire by Keith Appleby' who were in fact father and son as this clock dates to circa 1790/1800 this clock is by Robert Fletcher Senior: 'FLETCHER Robert CHESTER Clock & Watchmaker. Linenhall Street 1782. Watch Maker - Foregate Street 1789 - 95. Clock and Watch Maker - Higher Bridge Street 1792. Taken over by his son, Robert'. DIMENSIONS: The approximate dimensions are: - 84 inches (213 cm) high - 22.5 inches (57 cm) across the widest part of the hood - 14.5 inches (37 cm) across the trunk - 21.25 inches (54 cm) across the widest part of the base. As can be seen from these dimension this is a clock of lovely slim proportions. CONDITION: The clock is in wonderful condition.
