Seller: harveyjarv (992) 100%, Location: Edinburgh, Ships to: GB & many other countries, Item: 291944521240 The clock needs a little time spent on it to recondition it back to its true condition - this would complete the original look of this exceptional and historic timepiece. Supplied with 4 wood pegs (and 3 spares) for securing the two half's of the clock and includes all other working parts. Suspension spring is broken but is only a flat spring steel strip - obtainable from any engineering hardware shop. Mechanism is an original Fusee device but needs a little TLC only. Mechanism was working when the clock was taken out of service but has been stored for around 5 years. In working condition other than the suspension spring. Oak case, brass/steel bezel with glass and white face inscribed in black Roman numerals, and black minute and hour hands. Face plate condition - scuffing on the face 7 o'clock to 10 o'clock. Clock mat - clock case is made from wood and the back box planed timber. Roman numerals condition - clock face needs a little TLC but generally reasonable condition, a very satisfying project on its own. No chimes fitted The outside diameter of the clock face is 390mm, and the inner white clock face is 300mm, leaving the wood and brass/steel fascia 45mm thick around the circumference of the face. The wooden clock-face door has an inner brass/steel ring, that holds the protective glass front onto it. Four wooden dowel pegs (3 spares) hold the front face and working mechanism onto the back square wood casing, where the wall-mounting bracket is fitted. The clock is complete with a brass pendulum, and key for the wind-up mechanism. Representative example of a 19th century Anglo-Scottish wool industry time piece. The exact same clock that I have in my living has ticked endlessly for 24 years now with a once a week wind up loosing approximately one minute per month. A pleasure to view and more importantly listen to this historic design.
