It has no maker marked on the movement - just 'France' on the winding ratchet retaining bracket on the back of the movement. The original platform cylinder escapement has been replaced some time ago by a jewelled, compensated lever escapement, which is quite common with many of these clocks. The movement has had a full overhaul which involved being fully dismantled - this included the platform escapement which also had the jewels removed and cleaned where possible. It then had both a manual and ultrasonic clean, before being checked and having all necessary work done on it. Finally, it was re-assembled and oiled, and is now in excellent mechanical condition, running well, and keeping very good time. When stripped down the mainspring was removed from its barrel. It was badly distorted from a previous bad removal, and rubbing on the barrel sides, so was replaced with a new one, correctly lubricated before fitting. The mainspring is the 'heart' of your clock, so it is important that it is correct and in good, undamaged condition. There are six pictures at the end of the listing which show the movement assembled, before being put back into its case. There are naturally a few age related marks on the movement, although generally it is very good. The clock runs for its full length of wind which is over eight days days. It comes with a modern, British made, double ended brass carriage clock key. The clock is wound and set by the key through the glazed back door. The enamel dial is excellent - it has the odd tiny mark or two, but mostly these are original. There is a tiny chip on each of the top corners, but these are up under the top of the case and not normally visible. The blued steel hands are excellent. All glasses are bevelled, including the large top oval one, and have no visible chips - there are a couple of scratches on the top one and the left hand side one. The case is numbered inside, and is all original, the back door closes firmly as it should, and the handle is nice and tight. The polished brass case is very good - there are just a few, age related, marks, and there are some small bruises on the top left hand edge - please see the detail picture. The case has been fully dismantled and tastefully restored - I do not believe in over-restoration. It has also not been over polished - all polishing has been done by hand to preserve the detail. It has been coated in a very high quality wax especially made for the brass plates and cases of clocks, which acts has a tarnish inhibitor. The clock stands approximately 11cm high to the top of the case, and is just under 15cm tall to the top of the handle when it is up. The base width is approximately 8cm. I have tried to be very accurate with my description and mention everything I feel the buyer should know, however, please contact me if you have any further questions. If you are new to buying/collecting antique and collectable clocks, I can give you instructions on the general care of them, and how to regulate them for timekeeping, if you are interested. When you win the auction - please let me know. UK mainland 24 hour shipping will be by UPS - the clock will be double boxed in new boxes to ensure that it reaches you in perfect condition. Overseas shipping will be by Royal Mail or UPS, depending on your location. Please see the pictures below If you are bidding on any of my other auctions, I will combine postage on multiple items. Items paid for by Paypal will only be sent to the Paypal verified address. All UK items will be sent, unless otherwise stated, by Royal Mail 1st Class Recorded. All items, if under the maximum weight limit of 2kg when packed, will be sent overseas by Royal Mail Airmail International 'Signed For' service unless otherwise stated. Items are now sent this way to conform to eBay/Paypal regulations that safeguard both the buyer and the seller. This can make the shipping charge, particularly for overseas bidders, higher than possibly expected as the Recorded/Signed For service adds to the postage, particularly the overseas postage. I can accept no responsibility in the very rare event that items get lost in the post, but I will endeavour to do all I can to help the buyer by contacting Royal Mail and getting them to do the necessary search. Please be aware that it is illegal to falsify the value or contents on Customs documentation and under no circumstances will I do this.
