Seller: graham3943 (910) 100%, Location: Thames Ditton (nr. Hampton Court), Surrey, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 361838334345 NOTE: I AM RETIRED AND HAVE HAD PROFESSIONAL HOROLOGICAL TRAINING. I RESTORE ANTIQUE CLOCKS AS A HOBBY IN MY SPARE TIME. I SPECIALISE IN CARRIAGE CLOCKS. THIS ANTIQUE FRENCH CARRIAGE CLOCK IS IN REALLY OUTSTANDING CONDITION. IT WAS MADE C 1910 BY DOUVERDREY & BLOQUEL. I COMPLETELY OVERHAULED AND SERVICED IT AT THE END OF NOVEMBER 2016. Height (with handle folded down) 4 3/4 inches (12 cms); Width 3 inches (7.5 cms); Depth 2 1/2 inches (6.5 cms) I have been restoring antique and vintage carriage clocks for many years. This one was working perfectly well when I acquired it, but both the case and the movement were very dirty. So, I dismantled the clock - case and movement - completely and cleaned them carefully (having first checked the movement for wear). I then polished the case parts by hand and oiled the rebuilt movement and escapement with appropriate oils. Before re-assembly, I gave the case parts a coat of protective wax polish to delay the tarnishing process. CLOCK CASE: Classic solid heavy brass case with folding bale handle. All the case parts are stamped with the matching number 2 , showing it to be completely original. The rear door opens and closes with absolute precision - a good sign for obvious reasons. As explained above, I dismantled the case completely so as to clean and hand-polish the parts prior to wax polishing and rebuilding. It now has a rich, lustrous and durable antique patina. MOVEMENT: Beautifully made 8 day "0bis" timepiece numbered 2 at the bottom of the back plate. The movement still has its original jewelled cylinder escapement which works robustly with excellent amplitude. I stripped the movement and escapement down completely to clean them and then oiled them with fine-grade clock and watch oil. DIAL: The original white enamel-on-copper dial with bold black roman numerals and chapter ring, is in excellent original condition. I repaired a small chip to the top left corner of the dial which can really only be seen when the movement is removed from the case. Each five minute marker round the chapter ring is picked out with a small gold dot. The polished blued-steel hands are original and in perfect condition. GLASSES: The five thick bevelled glasses are original and in perfect condition, save for a small chip to the bottom right hand corner of the rear door glass.KEY: The clock comes with a classic double-ended brass carriage clock key. One end of the key is for winding the 8-day movement and the other is for adjusting the handsINSTRUCTIONS: I will enclose with the clock some brief instructions explaining how to start it if it has stopped in transit. I will also include my contact details so that you can get in touch with me in future with any questions you might have about care and maintenance. THIS CLASSIC ANTIQUE CARRIAGE CLOCK IS IN EXCEPTIONALLY FINE ORIGINAL CONDITION (and would make a wonderful Christmas present). The clock is heavy. This is reflected in the postage rates. PACKAGING (new double boxes) and POSTAGE (tracked and insured): UK £10.00; EU £ 20.00 (about 25 Euros); Elsewhere £30.00. I pack well, post promptly after payment and aim to keep purchasers informed at each stage of the transaction. I also have 100% positive feedback on eBay which I would urge you to read before you bid: your best guarantee is that I strive to keep the rating 100% positive!! Good luck should you decide to bid and thank you for looking. Condition: This antique French carriage clock is in really good condition. The movement, case, five bevelled glasses and enamel dial are all original to the clock and are in good condition. I filled and enamelled a small chip to the top corner of the dial: the repair is largely covered by the brass case; it does not show in the photo's or on display. There is a tiny chip to the bottom right corner of the rear door glass. The clock It still has its original cylinder escapement which has been dismantled, cleaned, polished and oiled. Indeed, I have just given the whole clock (both movement and case), a careful check over, clean and full service (November 2016), in my workshop. It comes with a classic double-ended carriage clock key., Age: Antique, Post-1900, Type: Mantel/ Carriage Clock, Sub-Type: Carriage Clock, Style/ Origin/ Theme: French, Material: Brass, Features: 8-Day
