The case incorporates some wonderful bronze ormolu mounts. This is a superb clock made by the renowned makers Winterhalder & Hofmeier, GERMANY. A lovely feature is that the movement is lovely being quarter striking with a 'ting tang' strike. If you are looking for an exquisite clock, this one will surly fit the bill. The door with lovely thick bevelled glass, opens to access the dial. The dial is a work of art in it's own right. The dial is brass and has a separate chapter ring which is beautifully etched with Roman Numerals with small Arabic numerals above, between the numerals is further beautifully etched. Around the chapter ring is adorned with lovely detailed spandrels and it is finished with a super pair of shaped fingers. The dial is covered with glass which is in perfect condition. To the sides are lovely lion head mounts and the top has a wonderful decorative carrying handles which sets it of superbly. The case is in lovely condition, and has a lovely rich patina. It is very difficult to convey through photographs the level of fantastic workmanship which has gone into this clock. But as you will note from the photographs there are fine carvings on the pediment which set the clock of wonderfully. The clock has just been oiled and services as such is happily ticking away and keeping good time. The clock chimes one 'ting tang' on the quarter past, two 'ting tangs' on the half past and three 'ting tangs' on the quarter to. Finally it then strikes the hours on the hour. The movement is access via a door to the rear this has a lovely fretted panel which is lined in red fabric. The movement is stamped with with the ' D.R. PATENT' and 'W & H IN SCH' which is the trademark for the renowned makers Winterhalder & Hofmeier, GERMANY who made high quality clocks mainly for the English market. In addition this clock comes complete with it's winding key and pendulum which has a lovely polished brass bob. The movement has recently been cleaned and serviced so is in good working condition. DIMENSIONS The approximate dimensions are: - 8.75 inches / 22 cm wide - 7 inches / 18 cm deep - 12.75 inches (32.5 cm) high with handle up / 10.75 inches (27cm) high with handle down AGE: The clock is Victorian. CONDITION: The case is in wonderful condition just minor marks commensurate with age as can be seen from the photographs.
