Seller: doeandhopeantiques (396) 100%, Location: Bedford, Ships to: GB, Item: 282154743251 For the Decorative, Rare & Unusual "Those who find beautiful meanings in beautiful things are the cultivated. For these there is hope." – Oscar Wilde A Sculptural Early 20thC French Metal Garden Open Armchair Origin: French Period: Early Twentieth Century Provenance: Unknown Date: c.1900-20 Height: 35” or 16” at seat Width: 21.5” Depth: 18” (all at extremities) The elegantly shaped metal garden or bistro open armchair with splayed legs to pad feet and conjoining stretchers, the shaped curved arms giving the whole superb fluidity, the metal now worn with an attractive patination of rusting and wear to the paint survives from the first quarter of twentieth century France. The chair is in super decorative condition, it remains useable and there are no major flaws or deficiencies to note. The whole has a commensurate amount of rusted wear associated with exterior use in a garden or bistro. There is a small amount of loss to the central area of metal rushwork type seat. Generally one finds this type of chair without arms so this is an especially sculptural example. Free flowing lines, patina and timeless elegance.
