Seller: jimco64 (15) 100%, Location: Petersfield, Ships to: Free Local Pickup, Item: 332043986180 An Oak-Cased Striking German Mantel Clock in very good condition.Made in the architectural style, the oak case is 13.5" high, 12.5" wide and 5.75" deep, having two side reeded pillars and triangular wooden embellishments around the dial. There are stud and bar embellishments in the pediment. The white enamel Chapter Ring has Roman Numerals and brass winding rings. On the centre of the dial is a brass fitted embellishment. A bevelled glass is set into a brass bezel.It was made about 1900 by The Hamburg American Clock Company of Wittenberg in the Black Forest, a company which closed in the 1920's. Their trademark of crossed arrows can be seen stamped onto the back movement plate and the gong block. Attached to the back door are the original paper trade labels with the serial number 3180.The clock strikes the hours and half hours on a coiled steel gong. It runs for one week per winding.The movement was completely dismantled, professionally cleaned and overhauled in 1995 and is in good working order.
