Its fully silver assay hallmarked for Birmingham, with lion passant, date letter 'Z' for 1899 and the makers initials D.C.Co in a oblong cartouche for the Douglas Clock, Company. Considering this travelling/desk clock is 116 years old it's in very good working condition, (actually keeps pretty good time) with no dents, splits or damage. It does have some beautiful silver age related patina, commensurate with its 116 years of age, but nothing unusual. When you actually consider what this exquisite clock has probably been through, certainly two world wars, we think it just adds to its character. What is nice is the fact that this delightful clock hasn't been over cleaned or over polished, totally unspoilt, which over the years has created a beautiful age related patination !!
