Seller: timerunner56 (635) 100%, Location: Bournemouth, Dorset, Ships to: GB & many other countries, Item: 291952810741 Beautiful 19th Century French Striking Ormolu Mantle Clock With Porcelain Panels!A top quality and beautiful 19th Century French striking ormolu mantle clock. The gilt bronze case comes with delightful hand painted Porcelain Panel with period scenes and figures. The large plaque is bell shaped and depicts a man and woman in 18th century period dress. The dial has a delicately painted small bird with flowers. The numbers are painted roman numerals while the hands are well shaped. The urn at the top of the clock case is also painted blue with gilt decoration. The gilt bronze case is finely cast with scrolls, swags and foliage while the base has four nicely detailed feet. The movement is signed 'Japy Freres', a well known and respected French clock maker. Also it is signed 'Hy. Marc', perhaps a contributor to the manufacture or even a retailer? The number '58115' appears on the back of the movement and the pendulum which confirms that these are original to each other. This 8 day movement strikes on a bell once at half past the hour then six at six o'clock etc. This wonderful old clock is running and working and it looks as though the last owner has had it cleaned and serviced. Measures approximately 14in tall x 9in wide x 4in deep and is in very nice condition (see photos). The gilding is mostly very good for a clock of around 120/130 years old, the back does have some rubbing probably cause by handling the case over many years. Although working, I would suggest a service and setting up by a competent restorer to set the clock up following shipping transit to the new owner. Consequently it is sold as seen for restoration or repair only.Postal costs refer to UK mainland addressesHappy to answer any questions, either via message or phone ( 07761 432112 ) Terms and ConditionsAll my items are sold for restoration and consequently sold as seen without a guarantee.
