Masks were worn by male dancers and dance competitions were held between neighbouring masks villages. The dance masks usually casting 3 characters. The 1st known as Gu, a beautiful young woman with intricate hair styling. The 2nd is Zaouli, an elderly old man with beard. The 3rd character is Zamble, an antelope, probably the Bushboks which is common to the region.
