Here are a stylish PAIR OF VINTAGE BRIGLIN POTTERY STUDIO PEDESTAL/FOOTED COFFEE MUGS WITH FLORAL (POSSIBLY SUNFLOWER) DESIGN . Brigette Goldschmidt and Eileen Lewestein founded at Baker Street, London in 1948.  It was particularly well known for it's dark, earthenware body, muted colours, white glaze and wax resistant designs.  A fire necessitated a move in 1952 to 22 Crawford Street.  The company stayed there until it's closure in 1990. This pair of mugs are ridged throughout.  They are made from red clay which is wheel turned.  I believe they date to the 1960s/1970s. They have a 250 ml capacity. Both mugs have a whiteish grey wash to the inside. The outside has an oatmeal wash.    I would say that the decoration is two sunflowers with rich reddish brown (or possibly burgundy) centres and darker brown petals.  These appear on each side.  There is a brown borderline at the top of each mug which matches the colour of the petals. This colour appears on the outside of the handles and also the pedestal or foot base.  The mugs are handpainted and therefore no two are the same. To the base you will see an impressed BRIGLIN. The mugs measure approximately 4 1/2" tall with a top rim diameter of approximately 2 1/2".  The measurement from the rim to the turn of the handle is approximately 4". Each piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration.  In the centre of the flowers you will see from the images there appears to be white / grey showing through.  Not sure if this was during the decorating process or afterwards, so please view the images.  Items are described honestly, and, in part, due to my research.  Please satisfy yourself that these are correct.
