Seller: cwscrow (32) 100%, Location: northeast, , Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 162200210326 Pictured is a Child's Antique Empire Chest of Drawers, C.1800-1810. It measures 15" tall, 14 1/2" wide and 11" deep. I picked it up at a yard sale just outside of Cooperstown, NY back in 1987. It is completely hand made and you can still see the chamfered surfaces in all aspects of it's construction on the top, sides, back and drawers. This beautiful hand-crafted antique in fact only has 10 discernible hand-cut nails: 4 on each drawer( on the sides near the dovetailing), and 1 each on top of each turned pillar. The back panels are even installed with tiny pegs as you can see from 4th photograph (one back panel has the pegs, the other panel only has the remnant of pegs). I had an antique dealer look at this piece many years ago and aside from strongly desiring the piece, they said that it firmly fit in with the history of the Cooperstown/Leatherstocking region in that the actual village of Cooperstown was not established until 1786. You will be hard-pressed to find such an exquisite example of early children's furniture from this period and region of the country. Please email with any questions and this piece is also available for actual viewing; I live about 65 miles northeast of Cooperstown.
