Seller: theantiquesstorehouse ✉️ (7,820) 99.1%, Location: Portsmouth, GB, Ships to: WORLDWIDE, Item: 272547846751 Circa 1850’s Volunteer Officer Epaulettes From Sevastopol. ~ Circa 1850’s Volunteer Officer Epaulettes From Sevastopol ~  Here we have an interesting find, a pair of officer’s epaulettes that were purchased in the Crimea before being brought back to the United Kingdom.  The button on the shoulder board is marked ‘DM’ and the plating on the metal is silver which would suggest an officer in a militia regiment attached to the main army.  The most likely unit designation for the piece would be the Durham Militia, with the Durham Light Infantry taking part in the campaign it seems likely a volunteer officer was attached to them.  ~ Dimensions ~  The epaulettes are each 7 inches (18 cm) long.  The epaulettes are each 5 inches (12.5 cm) wide.  The epaulettes weigh 405 g.  ~ Condition ~  The piece is in a very good condition for its age with both parts showing age but still very good for over 100 years old.  The plating has worn off on some places exposing the base metal. The braid is worn. MLAGO
