CAPTAIN BRIAN WALPOLE, OBE, FRAeS .The career of Captain Brian Walpole is second to none in the history of post-war aviation. Not only did he fly the world's only supersonic jet airliner for twelve years, he commanded the fleet and also ran its commercial operations as General Manager Concorde.
In 1977, he commanded the Concorde, which flew the Queen from Barbados to London and the first supersonic commercial service from London to New York. Captain Walpole was promoted to General Manager of the British Airways Concorde Division, continuing once more to fly as a fully operational Concorde commander. His achievements in aviation were again recognised in 1983 when he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Societ, then in 1988 he became an Officer in the Order of the British Empire in The Queen's Birthday Honours List.CAPTAIN DAVE LENEY. PILOT AND FLIGHT MANAGER.
David Leney joined B.O.A.C. in 1956, navigating Argonauts and Constellations, before becoming co-pilot on Britannia and VC 10 aircraft. His command on VC 10 came in 1971 and he first flew Concorde in 1977. He retired from British Airways as Captain and Flight Manager in 1989, becoming a co-pilot for two extra years. He achieved 5,000 hours on Concorde.
CAPTAIN MIKE BANNISTER.
He joined the British Airways crew of Concorde in 1977 where he became its youngest pilot. In his Concorde career Mike accumulated around 9,000 flight hours almost 7,000 of which were Supersonic - more than anyone else in history. Mr Bannister captained the Concorde's retirement flight, from New York to London on October 24th 2003.
CAPTAIN PAUL ROUTLEDGE.
Trained at Hamble college of air training and flew tridents and Boing 737's before joining Concorde. He flew with British Airways for over 30 years 9 of which were on Concorde. He was also Concorde's business co-ordinator whilst still flying Concorde.
