Victorian Silver Book Chain Bracelet  Aesthetic Movement A really nice example of the late 19th Century Aesthetic Movement in 800 silver.  A beautifully designed piece, with three D profile links, the central row being of plain, polished silver and the two outer rows being of intricately pierced design with a plain polished silver back, and embellished by silver balls to each outer edge. The clasp is very strong and well made, square with an engraved lozenge showing a floral design with 3 silver balls to each side and is secured with a strong push tongue, which is marked 800 for silver purity and has a small maker's mark, too. The closure is very secure, and closes with a reassuringly firm click. The back of the bracelet is almost equally attractive, showing the superb interlocking "brickwork" construction with the silver polished to a high finish.  This really is a gorgeous bracelet, very well made and in excellent antique condition.  It measures 20mm in width, so is a lovely size on the wrist, not so wide as to be cumbersome or impractical but wide enough to get itself noticed.  The articulation makes it extremely supple and comfortable and it is a good weight on the wrist.  It is more usual to see these chains as necklaces, so it makes a pleasant change to see a nice, ornate book chain as a bracelet and in marked silver, too.  This beautiful bracelet can stand alone as a one-off item or would make a stunning addition when worn with a classic neck-chain. Some wear to the surface of the silver commensurate with age, but no visible damage. Push lock closure in perfect working order, and is fully secure closing with a firm click.
