Fine Quality Victorian Burr Walnut Cylinder Bureau By Edwards & Roberts

£2,500.00 or Best Offer 26d, 14-Day Returns

Seller: girondola (2,038) 100%, Location: Gloucestershire, Ships to: GB, Item: 371802411488 This is a beautiful example of late Victorian Burr Walnut furniture made by the highly regarded makers Edwards & Roberts. This is a Cylinder Bureau with cabinet. The piece is of high quality manufacture being Burr Walnut veneered on Mahogany. The whole piece is in wonderful condition, allowing, of course, for the honest marks of age and use.The top cabinet has a lower section for files with pigeon holes above, enclosed by a pair of doors complete with original key.The Base consists of the cylinder front which turns back into the carcass allowing access to an arrangement of pigeon holes and drawers with the centre compartment of ideal size to fit a laptop. The writing top pulls forward to form a generous sized writing area covered in the original tooled green leather skiver.; this does have some marks where it retracts into the carcass but is otherwise sound.Beneath the writing board is a single frieze drawer on the top edge of which is stamped the name Edwards & Roberts in two places. The whole piece is supported on tapering and fluted walnut legs terminated with the original castors. Hard to fault this piece but I have shown an image of a small shrinkage fault at the front right hand of the writing board. Other points to mention are the escoution is missing from the Cylinder front and there are no keys to the cylinder or frieze drawer. The only other point to mention is at some time this piece has lost some small pieces of veneer from the top back edge which have been repaired but not to the highest quality.; it is only a small amount and well out of sight but mentioned for accuracy. Beautiful example of a classic style! Buyer to collect or send your courier. This item is offered for sale elsewhere so buy now to avoid disappointment!Feedback. Please leave feedback when you receive the item as an indication that you have safely received it. IT IS ADVISABLE FOR INTERNATIONAL BUYERS TO CONFIRM THE SHIPPING COST AND INSURANCE SITUATION BEFORE PURCHASE. I am happy to do combined shipping at best rates I can find. Terms and conditions. read and agree to abide with these conditions. Descriptions. I try to describe items as accurately as possible; the goods are normally antique or vintage and will bear marks of use in varying degrees. If an item is clearly miss-described, and I don't mean just a scratch or mark that I have not mentioned, but a substantial difference; then it can be returned for a full refund. I always provide plenty of images to show the condition as fully and clearly as possible; and you can ask for clarification of any points that are not clear to you.. If you don't like an item after you have received it and you did not query any details about that item then it is through no fault of mine. Shipping. International buyers must ensure the item they purchase can be legally imported into their country; no refunds will be given if items are impounded or retuned by your Customs. International buyers are advised to ask for a shipping quote. I am happy to send worldwide. I normally include an approximate weight of a package in the item description so you may check, yourself, online to obtain your own approximate shipping cost. All items are well packed and clearly addressed. Which takes a lot of time for which only a small charge, if any, is included in with the shipping cost.; it usually doesn't cover the cost of the materials. I often subsidise shipping as it is difficult to estimate the packed weight when listing. The shipping cost quoted on the item page is an estimate; the cost can be higher. If it is significantly different than quoted I will ask for more; so it pays to check the full cost with me before paying especially if the item is being shipped outside of the UK. If an item is over 2 kilos in weight I will use a courier company, other than Royal Mail; that will require a telephone number. To aid a faster shipping process I will obtain that number through an Ebay client details request.; so if you get an email saying I have requested your details that is why.
