Seller: pro_clock (2,398) 100%, Location: Congleton, Cheshire, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 201479840112 Be sure to add me to your favourites list! Back in the day... Clocks weren't just a decoration; families centred their lives on the time they displayed. As a repairer, each one is defiantly different and has a personality. When you think of what the world has been through since these clocks were made, my mind just boggles. Wars, natural disasters and the changing face of technology. Millions upon millions of lives born and lost along with all they have experienced. How many children learnt to tell the time using them? How many owners have these clock had? How many times have they been handed down after the owner has died?If only they could talk!I am passionate and obsessed about these old clocks and want to see them being passed down for future generations. Hi There Before bidding on, or buying any item from me, please check my feedback and bid/buy with the utmost confidence. If you buy this clock from me, you will receive a TDK C/D with 121 photos of the work I have carried out on the movement and the case, along with a write up of the work seen in the photos. Some of these pictures can be seen in this listing. I take great pride in my work, which I hope can be seen in the finished product. The full asking price now includes delivery and set up of your clock within a hundred mile radius of Congleton. Please read the note towards the bottom of this listing. On offer here is a lovely and rare in this condition, Gilbert clock which was produced around 1913. This is an American clock and the Gilbert Clock Company started its long history of clock making in December 1828. Over the next 130 years it became one of America’s giants in the industry. This clock and its fittings have been fully and extensively restored, serviced and cleaned by myself. The case was in good condition, but the dial and fittings to this clock were in quite poor condition and I spent over 20 hours to bring it back to its former glory. The movement was in a terrible dirty state. It was one of the most worn movements I have ever worked on, requiring 18 new bushes in the clock plates. I have cleaned and serviced the movement to what I hope you think is a high standard while still trying to keep the character of the clock. This clock is an eight day clock and should therefore be wound every seven days. It will strike the hours at twelve and a single strike at thirty minutes. The case dimensions are 8 ½” wide by 11 ¾” high by 5 ¼” deep. The face/bezel diameter is 5 ½”. The clock dates around 1913. For a clock that is a hundred years old and because of the service it has undertaken, now runs very well. Please do bear in mind that this is an old clock and therefore although in very good condition, there are some imperfections which are related to its age. I have reworked the case to what I think is a high standard and the case is in good condition considering how old it is, but it will have some small marks and imperfections which will be related to its age. The case has been stained and re waxed. The dial to this clock was in poor condition and I have completely reworked it. All the old finish was removed. The chapter ring etc. has been recoloured and the dial re silvered. The hands were rusty, so I have cleaned and re blued them. This clock comes with an old key but it is not an original key. In summery this clock has had the following work carried out. Movement stripped, cleaned and polished. 18 new bushes to the plates at worn points Case has had light work carried out on it. Face and hands have received major work. 56 hours of work plus 6 weeks of testing. As with all my clocks, the buyer will receive my own care sheets so that you will get the most out of the clock. Covering four sheets of A4, these pages cover everything from winding up the clock and adjusting the time, to when to have it serviced. You will receive a TDK C/D with a write up and 121 photos showing all the work I have done on the movement and case. The care sheets will be on the C/D. If you require them printing, please let me know. Please note the following on getting this clock to you. I offer a delivery and setup service to anywhere within mainland UK. If you pay full price for the clock the delivery is included up to hundred miles from Congleton. If you live further than that, the added cost for delivery is 0.30 per mile return. So the cost of delivery and setup, if you lived hundred and fifty miles from me would be £30. I will also give you a twelve month guarantee. You will see the clock running and ask any questions you might have. Remember If you do decide to pick up the clock from me or have it delivered and setup by myself I will give you a twelve month guarantee. Please have a good look at the photos before buying and email any questions you might have. Condition: This clock has been cleaned, serviced and repaired by myself. Both the movement and case have had a great deal of work carried out and is now in very good condition but do bare in mind that its not a new clock.
