Seller: *loose* (636) 100%, Location: Tyne & Wear, Ships to: Free Local Pickup, Item: 322342627341 This gorgeous wardrobe is from the Utility Furniture range that was available during and after WW2. I love this wardrobe and the history behind it, but unfortunately we just don't have the space for it. Here's some information on Utility Furniture taken from Wikipedia: Utility furniture refers to furniture produced in the United Kingdom during and just after World War II, under a Government scheme which was designed to cope with shortages of raw materials and rationing of consumption. Introduced in 1942, the Utility Furniture Scheme continued into post-war austerity and lasted until 1952. By 1941 it had become apparent that the combination of a severe lack of timber suitable for furniture making (in which Britain was not self-sufficient) and the increased demand for new furniture due to the losses of housing caused by bombing and to the continuing establishment of new households after marriage, had created a severe furniture shortage. It does smell a bit musty, hence the low starting price, but I've been advised that that can be got rid of. If you have any questions, please do ask. Original/Reproduction: Original, Product Type: Wardrobes/ Armoires, Age: 1900-1950
