A superb original Stone Ginger Beer bottle in superb condition, very crudely made early example, treacle glaze body with lots of variations of colour in the glaze and with a vibrant blue blob lip, dating to circa 1890.
Stone Ginger Beer bottle has a faint incised or impressed lettering and advertises M. DAVIES & SON MANCHESTER, the registered trade mark is feint but we know it is of the letters M D either side of two engineering instruments.
Blob lip for cork closure, no pottery stamp evident.
Bottle is in super condition, no repairs, no chips, no cracks, the odd rough spot and indent around the base edge but all in manufacture and how the potter finished the bottle off before kiln firing, the bottle is very crude in manufacture, great glaze colouring, vibrant blue lip with a nice feature of where the blue started to run off the lip and down the neck, happy to answer questions.
An attractive bottle.
