Early panelled marquetry with birds, tulip and floral design. Original base and original rising hood with spoon latch. 11 inch square dial with early style half hour markers and outer minute track, cherub and foliage spandrels. Signed ‘Mich. Bird London’ on the chapter ring. Eight day movement, original seatboard. Brass bob pendulum and original brass weights. Michael Bird was apprenticed in 1648 to Thos Taylor and subsequently turned over to Edward Gilpin.
