Jewellers Rouge Buffing Wax
Bar 110 gram (approx weight)
A high gloss - ultra fine finishing buffing wax bar for use with a Buffing Wheel / Polishing Mop
Red is also called Jewellers Rouge ( Rouge is simply the French word for Red ) it is used by Jewellers for polishing Gold, Silver, Pewter, Nickel, Platinum, Glass and Soft metals. Just like all Buffing bars, however not all Rouge Buffing bars are the same, because the vast majority of buffing bars are made in India and China, there Rouge is only a dye colour thats added and combined with some fine abrasive, in many cases its just fine silica (sand) but thats not good quality Jewellers Rouge they just cheap copies, that can corrode the surface of what its intended to polish. Our Rouge buffing bars are different, because the colour of our Rouge bars comes as it traditionaly should, from the abrasive itself, we use a special high quality grade of Iron (111) oxide abrasive and that produces an ultra fine finish and the abrasive colour enhances the colour of gold, which is why our Rouge is the choice of Jewellers. Rouge is recommended for use with a Loose leaf buffing wheel (or any type of soft buffing wheel). Rouge is also used the optics industry to polish Glass. Red has a very slow, ultra fine cutting action and gives a mirror like finish. Rouge has the very lowest cut rating of 1, so you need to get the metal to a good standard before using rouge in order to achieve a mirror finish.
We also have White Rouge listed in our Ebay Shop, our White rouge is made from Calcinined Alumina abrasive which is silica free.
Rouge is also used to polish coral and we have written some information below which we hope might be of interest.

Stitched White Cotton Buffing Wheel
For Metal Polishing & Cleaning
Made in the UK
The Endlessgreen range of buffing wheels are made especially for us and all made in the UK
This pattern buffing wheel is called a Stiched Cotton Wheel, it is a quite firm pattern buffing wheel and is regarded as a general purpose buffing wheel intended for 1st and 2nd stage cleaning and polishing of metal and hard plastics, although it could be used for polishing Wood, its not ideal because this pattern wheel is quite firm, for wood it would be better to select a much softer pattern buffing wheel, called a "Loose Leaf Buffing wheel " or a WOW ( Woodturners Open Stitch Wheel ) pattern and we those wheels listed in our Ebay Shop.
Buffing wheel could be used fitted onto a drill, or mounted onto a grinder or motor etc. Please note that this sale is for a buffing wheel only and no fittings or attachments are included. We do have a choice of fittings listed in our Ebay Shop
The Endlessgreen range of Buffing Wheels is already huge, we belive we have the largest range of quality of Buffing wheels and buffing bars in the UK and this range is slowly expanding in line with our customers requirements, hence why we have buffing wheels in sizes that no one else makes, we have many different pattern wheels and in diameters from 2 inch up to 8 inch ( 50mm - 200mm) and each wheel is available in a choice of width (thickness) from 1/2 inch to 2 inch (13mm to 50mm). We also have the same wheels made in different materials and stiching patterns, as our range grows we will list them in our Ebay Shop. To quote one of our trade customers, We are 20 years ahead of our competitors!
Our Buffing wheels and buffing bars are made in the UK, we support British Industry, unlike most Buffing wheels and buffing bars sold in the UK that are imported from China and India.

The photographs shown are for illustration purposes only.
The image on the right are 150mm ( 6 inch) diameter Buffing wheels, but the width of the 50, 75, 100 and 200mm are all about the same as the 150mm wheel.
All sizes quoted are approximate.
Buffing wheels are traditionally made, measured and sold in what is called a SECTION and not by a width measurement as many people might expect; it is something that we are often asked explain.
A "Section" or one section of a buffing wheel measures approximately 13mm (1/2 inch) wide, although this can vary depending slightly on the type of material and the sewing pattern of the wheel, but as a rough guide, a One section buffing wheel is approx 13mm (1/2 inch) wide in total, a Two Section buffing wheel is approx 25mm wide, because thats roughly double the width of a One Section wheel, because in simplistic terms a Two Section buffing wheel is made up from 2 pieces of One section these were then stitched together at the factory. This not only makes the buffing wheel not only wider, but also makes the wheel firmer (harder). Each time another section is added, the buffing wheel width increases by about 13mm, so a 3 section wheel is approx 3 times the width of a One Section wheel (at approx 40mm wide), likewise a 4 Section buffing wheel will be about 50mm wide ( 2 inch). My apologies for stating the obvious!
What types of Buffing wheels do we sell in our Ebay Shop?

SISAL buffing wheels
Shown above for illustration purposes is a Sisal Wheel 150mm x 50mm ( S150/4 )Sisal buffing wheels are very firm and quite coarse, they are used for 1st Stage polishing and heavy duty cleaning of hard metals like Iron, Steel, Stainless Steel and non ferrous metals. Stitched Cotton Buffing wheels Shown above for illustration purposes is a Stitched Cotton Wheel 200mm x 40mm product code C200/4 Stitched Buffing Wheels are general purpose polishing buffing wheels, (also called buffing mops) they are made of cotton and because cotton is a fairly soft material it is much less abrasive / less aggressive than Sisal Buffing wheels. Our Cotton buffing wheels are made from 100% cotton and the buffing wheel is firm when pressure is applied. Cotton stiched wheels are suitable for most polishing tasks, although they can be quite abrasive if held for too long on some materials. An advantage of a cotton stitched buffing wheels is that more pressure can be applied, they are also ideal for metal polishing and for smaller items where more control is required.

Buffing Wax Bar
Available from our Ebay shop in various weightsEmery Grey, Grey, Brown, Green, Pink, White, Yellow, Red (Rouge), Blue (smurf poo)
Emery Grey bar ( very abrasive) is the latest edition to our range and is now also available from our Ebay Shop
Degrease Chalk is also available from our Ebay Shop
The Endlessgreen range of Buffing bars are polishing compound bars ( also called Buffing soap ) this range covers most polishing applications; from high metal removal to ones that produce a mirror bright finish. Each type of Buffing bar is formulated from a different abrasives which include calcined and fused aluminas, hematite, oxides, tripolis, emery, pumice, chalks and many more, these different abrasives are selected for their different degrees of hardness and their particle grit size. The abrasive is then combined with a blend of fats, resins, waxes and oils which act as a binding agent (generally referred to as grease) and then a coloured dye is added. The Endlessgreen range of Buffing bars are suitable for a variety of metals, resins and hard plastics, glass and even wood. The abrasive or polishing properties of all buffing bars can be changed / enhanced by combining it with either a harder or softer pattern of buffing wheel. For example using a very highly abrasive buffing bar like Grey with a Sisal wheel will increase the cutting ability of the compound, it could also be used with a softer wheel and it would not be as abrasive. Likewise every Buffing bar in the range could be used with any type or pattern of buffing wheel to achieve different results. Our Buffing bars are graded with a rating number from 1 to 10 according to their degree of abrasiveness (abrasive particle hardness & grit size) and a rating from 1 to 10 is also given to the level of shine that could be produced. The first number is called " The Cut " the higher the number the rougher the abrasive and the more stock (material) will be cut / removed from the workpiece. The second number is " The Gloss " or sheen and this rating relates to how much shine the compound will give, the higher this number the higher the gloss shine will be. .10/1 = Most stock removal / least shine - semi bright or lined finish
1/10 = Least stock removal / most shine - fully bright or mirror finish
These Buffing bars are made in colours traditionaly associated with specific polishing tasks, but the actual colour means nothing whatsover, and is only a dye colour used to easily identify each type of buffing bar. The term "Cut and Colour" in the trade, means to "cut back" the material to its original colour.
1st stage polishing (also called Burnishing) means just that, its the first stage of polishing and that might include removing tooling, grinding or casting marks, removing a surfaces finish or removing scratches, blemishes or rust etc. The next stage(s) polishes the workpiece to a higher sheen. Many profesional polishers do 2, 3 or even 4 stages of polishing, at each stage a finer grade of buffing bar is used, or in some cases the same buffing wax is used, but with a different pattern or material of buffing wheel. Brown, Green and Blue bars are all regarded as multi stage or dual purpose buffing bars. For information the various polishing stages are often called: Stage 1 = Burnishing. Stage 2 = Pre-polishing. Stage 3 = Polishing. 4) Finishing (or super finishing).
1st Stage buffing bars Emery Grey ( Ferrous metals like Iron, Steel, Stainless Steel ) Grey ( Ferrous metals like Iron and Steel ) Brown ( Non Ferrous metals like Brass, Copper and Aluminium ) Final stage Buffing bars Green ( Stainless Steel ) Pink ( Chrome) White ( Aluminium & Chrome ) Yellow ( Resins & Plastics ) Red ( Jeweller Rouge) ( Gold & Silver ) Blue ( Copper, Brass & Bronze ) Aka Smerf Poo
We have written below more information about each type of buffing bar.
Grey For 1st stage polishing of Ferrous metals ( Iron, Steel and Stainless Steel ) rating 8 / 4 Grey buffing wax is made from Alumina Grey coarse grade abrasive grit particles, ideal for greater stock removal ( removal of casting and grinding marks etc). With a very high cutting rate this compound is ideal for use on Steel, Stainless Steel, Titanium, Tool Steel and other ferrous metals and is not suitable for for soft metals like Gold, Silver, Pewter, Nickel or Platinum. B est used with a Sisal buffing wheel for maximum stock removal, it can also be used with a Stitched cotton buffing wheel when a less abrasive cutting action is needed. The high abrasive rating guide is 8 and that makes Grey the ideal choice to remove tooling / grinding marks, imperfections and rust from metal and is usually followed by a final polish with either Green or White buffing bar to achieve a bright mirror finish. Brown (tripoli compound) For 1st stage polishing of Non - Ferrous metals ( Brass, Copper, Aluminium, Gold and Silver. Also used for Hard Plastics and Hardwoods ) rating 7 / 7 Brown ( Tripoli Compound ) is a medium hard, tripoli compound Buffing Bar and is regarded as being a multi purpose and a first stage polishing bar, ideal for polishing of Brass, Copper and other non ferrous metals, commonly used by Jewellers for 1st stage polishing of Gold and Silver. Our Brown Buffing bars are used in industry for polishing Cellulose Acetate, Phenol-urea and Melamine Formaldehyde Resins, Bakelite and also used for polishing hardwood to a high sheen. Brown is also used by stickmakers and craftworkers for polishing horn. Brown is best used with a Stitched cotton buffing wheel, but it could be used with a Sisal buffing wheel if a more aggressive cutting action is required, or used with a loose leaf wheel for higher sheen. Brown has a relatively high cut and high shine rating of 7/7. Green For Final Stage polishing of Very Hard Metals - ( like Stainless Steel and Tool Steel ): rating 7 / 8 Green buffing wax is also regarded as being a multi purpose and a final stage polishing that produces a mirror bright finish on very hard materials like Stainless Steel, High Carbon Steel and Tool Steel. Used with either Stitched Cotton buffing wheels, Loose leaf or with Sisal buffing wheels, Green is also commonly used on both felt wheels and leather power strops for tool sharpening. Green is also used by the trade to polish Coral. The 7/8 rating gives good stock removal while adding a high shine. Green is also called Green Rouge. Pink For Final Stage polishing of Stainless steel and Chrome: rating 4 / 8Pink buffing bar is a new addition to the our range. Pink is a similar too, but less abrasive than their best selling Green buffing bar. Our Pink like the green is intended for the final stage polishing of very hard materials like Stainless Steel, High Carbon Steel and Tool Steel, but the Pink has lower stock removal rating of 4, making it ideal for chrome plate, or for use where a less abrasive cutting action is required on hard metals. The Pink buffing bar is recommended for use Stitched Cotton buffing wheels or with loose leaf buffing wheels, but it could be used with hard felt, leather or Sisal wheels if required. We have written a lot more information about buffing wax types and what the ratings mean below this listing, we hope it may be of interest
White ( also known as White Rouge ) For Final Stage polishing of Aluminium & Chrome: rating 3 / 9 White is used for fine scratch removal and to produce a bright, mirror finish on Aluminium, Chrome and Nickel plate, its also popular for polishing Zinc, Brass and ferrous metals. Use with Stitched Cotton buffing wheels, loose leaf or with Sisal buffing wheels . Our White buffing bar is preferred choice for polishing Aluminium and Chrome, because its regarded as giving a cleaner cut / non greasy finish. Our White buffing bars are also used by jewellers for 1st stage polishing of platinum, hence why it is also known as White Rouge. The 3/9 rating gives a light cutting action with a very high, mirror shine. Yellow For Final Stage polishing of Resins & Hard Plastics: rating 4 / 7
Yellow is for final stage polishing of hard plastics & resins and it can be used with a either stitched cotton or Loose leaf pattern buffing wheel. Yellow buffing bars are popular with woodturners for polishing resin pens and used by model and set makers. Our Yellow buffing bar is now the preffered choice of the plastics industry for low speed 2nd stage polishing of Cellulose Acetate, Phenol-urea, Melamine Formaldehyde Resins and other hard plastics. Also used for light polishing of lacquer resins. T he 4/7 rating gives this buffing bar gives it good cutting abilities combined with a good shine level.
Red ( Jewellers Rouge) for Final Stage polishing of Gold & Silver: rating 1 / 9 Red also called Jewellers Rouge ( Rouge is simply the French word for Red ) is used by Jewellers for polishing Gold, Silver, Pewter, Nickel, Platinum, Glass and Soft metals. Rouge enhances the colour of gold. Red is recommended for use with a Loose leaf buffing wheel (or any type of soft buffing wheel). Red is also used the optics industry to polish Glass. Red has a very slow, ultra fine cutting action and gives a mirror like finish. Rouge has the very lowest cut rating of 1, so you need to get the metal to a good standard before using rouge in order to achieve a mirror finish. Blue ( aka Smerf Poo ) For Final Stage polishing of Copper, Brass and Bronze. rating 5 / 8 Blue is regarded as a multi purpose and final stage buffing bar, although it was primarily intended as a final stage polishing bar for Copper, Brass and Bronze, but its commonly used in industry for polishing Stainless Steel, Aluminium, Chrome, Nickel plate and Zinc. Suitable for use with stitched buffing wheels, loose leaf and Sisal buffing wheels, it is also used with hard felt wheels for tool sharpening. Blue is a popular choice in the automotive trade for polishing Aluminium. Blue is very popular with the Military, Bushcrafters, Preppers and Scout groups who use it for sharpening bushcraft and survival type knives in the field on a piece of Leather Strop. To use on a leather strop simply rub the bar on the rough side of the leather, then hold the bevel of the knife against the leather while pushing from left to right for a minute or two to chieve a razor sharp polished edge. Our Blue has become more widely known worldwide on youtube as " Smurf Poo " (such a great name, only wish we had thought of it). Degrease Chalk Used to remove Grease lines from metal and plastic surfaces. Degrease Chalk is used to remove the black grease lines that are often found on metal and hard plastic surfaces after polishing. The grease lines happen when an excess of polishing compound is applied to the buffing wheel, that excess polishing compound is then transfered onto the workpiece and looks like a black line (called a grease mark). Degreasing chalk is then used to remove those marks. Degrease chalk is applied by simply sprinkling some onto the workpiece, then gently polishing the workpiece with a soft clean cloth or the item can be repolished with a buffing wheel.

Emery Grey Buffing Bar
For 1st stage polishing of Ferrous metals ( Iron, Steel and Stainless Steel ) rating 9/ 0 Emery Grey buffing wax is the newest buffing bar in the Endlessgreen range, we had these bars made to meet the requirements of our Automotive and Industry customers, they wanted a very highly abrasive bar to remove rust corrosion, tooling marks, nicks, burrs, scratches etc from hard metals like iron and steel. We have had a few batches made and they were all delighted with the results. This bar is made from a coarse grade of Emery (Aluminium Oxide) it has a very abrasive cutting action and produces no shine. Rated as having a cutting rating of 9+ with 0 shine rating. The Emery grey bar ideal to use with Sisal wheels, but it could be used with Stitched Cotton and Felt wheels. This buffing bar has already got itself something of a reputation in the trade as the rough tough bad boy!
