DESCRIPTION: This is fabulous antique mahogany eight-day brass faced, longcase / grandmother clock, which is of the most exquisite petite proportions. This century old piece has a superb quality weight driven movement which is extremely rare to find a grandmother clock and the even rarer feature of an automation Rocking Ship to the arch which adds to the special quality of this lovely clock. The case is also wonderful being made from mahogany which has a lovely patina which has also been nicely inlaid with fine satinwood stringing. The clock is made by the highly renowned Sinclair Harding, Cheltenham, who honour the tradition of fine english clockmaking with their range of beautiful hand crafted clocks and since 1967 have undertaken commissions from all over the world. If we start with the hood this has an arched top is finished off with a lovely shaped molding and has a pretty brass finial to the centre. The dial is flanked by full turned columns to the front and quarter columns to the rear, which terminate in brass capitals. The hood door is opened via a brass drop handle. If we then move down to the trunk this has beautifully full-length door which is nicely inlaid with fine satinwood stringing it is also complete with it's lock and key which is fully working. The base has a lovely applied panel which again has been inlaid with fine satinwood stringing and has a pretty moulded edge to the panel which sets it off beautifully. The clock is raised on a plinth. The eight-day movement, has an arched brass face with a silvered chapter ring marked with large Roman numerals with small Arabic numerals above. It also has a subsidiary second dial. The four corners are adorned with beautiful cherub spandrals whilst the arch incorporates a wonderful automation Rocking Ship which is a lovely rare feature. The centre of the dial bears the makers name 'Sinclair Harding, Cheltenham'. The movement is weight driven which is a superb feature and the clock has wonderful brass cased weights. The clock is happily ticking away, and keeping good time. The movement is nice and clean as can be seen from the photographs. It comes complete with its brass weights, pendulum and winding key. DIMENSIONS: The approximate MAXIMUM dimensions are: - 75.25 inches (191 cm) high - 15.5 inches (39.5 cm) wide across the hood - 9.75 inches (25 cm) wide across the trunk - 16 inches (40.5 cm) wide across the base (across feet). As can be seen from the above dimensions this clock is of lovely slim and petite proportions. AGE: The clock is post 1967. CONDITION: The clock is in lovely condition as can be seen from the photographs. The clock is happily ticking away, and keeping good time. The movement is nice and clean as can be seen from the photographs having recently been cleaned and serviced.
