Small, but very fine Pre-Columbian figure originating from the Narino Culture of the southern Columbian highlands. Circa 800 AD - 1500 AD. Museum quality. Probably a female depiction, seated with legs crossed and hands on her knees, wearing a skirt. Painted with black wax-resist geometric and other designs. Beautifully sculpted with sensitive facial features and fine proportions. PROVENANCE: From an old San Francisco estate collection. SIZE: Height - 4.25” / Width - 3.5” / Depth 3” CONDITION: Excellent condition with no restoration. Old patina, light soil encrustation, and slight wear to the painted designs. Small chip to upper lip.
