About the artist
Paul Greer began his career in art in Northwich, where he attended a foundation course at the London Road School of Art under the imaginative tuition of Dave Moulson. Moulson placed great emphasis on the development of the imagination and the use of colour. He placed particular emphasis on the importance of emotional content over precise academic structure and adherence to objective detail.
Paul then attended a three-year course at Middlesex University, a leading London art college, where he came under the influence of the well-known printmaker Dick Fozard
After leaving university, Paul spent several years working in London, where he explored the rundown side of London’s East End with its blitzed spaces – euphemistically called “brownfield sites” - and its picaresque life in the strip taverns and decaying streets.
Since moving to Wales at the turn of the century, he has been studying the Welsh landscape, producing paintings and prints which strongly convey his impressions of both the rugged and the pastoral elements of the country. Many of these works have been sold in Europe and the United States.
Paul is a keen cyclist, and this sporting interest affords him the opportunity to ride through the hills and valleys of this fascinating countryside with its unique villages and scattered cottages, which continue to excite the imagination of this quiet and thoughtful artist.
