Pollocks Toy Theatre The Silver Palace.
Green’s toy theatre play ‘The Silver Palace’ copyrighted by Pollock’s in 1946.
Vintage item bought from Pollock’s museum in Scala Street in around 1990. The copyright mark is in red ink and is possibly overprinted onto older sheets. Four card scenes and two sheets of characters. Three further sheets of characters on good quality paper, with no overprinting of copyright (marked Green’s and Redington’s, but not Pollock’s) ; and two further sheets of wings and top drops and foot pieces, on less good paper, published by Pollock’s. The three sheets published by Green’s are possibly Victorian originals. One sheet of characters is missing, and there is no playbook.
Also included: a modern photocopy reprint, which includes the missing sheet of characters and the playbook. These images are the same, but are labelled only with Pollock’s name.
The original purchase also included a pair of side curtains (Park’s) and a top frieze (Green’s), also copyrighted by Pollock’s in 1946; and a green paper curtain.
