£15,000.00 or Best Offer 22d, £30.00 Shipping, 14-Day Returns

Seller: clockbuster (627) 100%, Location: Sheffield, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 272470237486 Description This is an exquisite English bracket clock of very small size by John Johnson who was working from Grays Inn Passage , London from 1770 to 1800 . The company was taken over by his apprentice John Dwerrihouse and later became Dwerrihouse and Carter who were very successful makers during their time in business. Interestingly the initials DW are scratched behind the chapter ring. This clock is very small indeed and I presume that it was a special commission for a wealthy client. The clock is only 14 inches tall (handle down)and 8 1/2 inches wide to the edge of the feet and 6 inches deep.It has a 5 inch arch brass dial (the normal size for this type of clock is 8 inches ) which has strike silent facility. Clocks of this size are very rare indeed and eagerly sought after by collectors but they rarely appear on the open market As can be seen from the photographs the clock is of typical form with an inverted bell top with carrying handle but the discerning buyer will immediately notice the extra touches that are only found on the finest clocks of the period such as the brass mouldings used on the front and rear doors and the edge the side frets . There is brass strip around the case and between the sections of the bell top.The side frets are original and are made from cut brass. The original finials and handle are beautifully cast and decorated.Unusually the gilding retains the vast majority of the original finish which has not been polished back to brass. The Ormlou mounds are of an unusual design are used front and rear of the canted corners on the case. The top is similarly canted. The substantial double fusee movement of 8 day duration has reinstated verge escapement and strikes the hours on a bell. The back plate is elaborately engraved and signed by the maker. It is of the finest quality as produced in London at the time and is in full working condition . This clock is genuine and original .I offer a money back guarantee to this end. I have deliberately left the clock in its original finish and it has simply been waxed.Personally I love the condition exactly as it is and would not change it in any way. Like all antiques there are the odd age related marks as can be expected on any item of this age but I am certain that the most discerning client will not be disappointed. Any potential clients are encouraged to view the clock prior to purchase in order to appreciate how small this clock actually is. I have attached a size comparison photograph next to a typical lancet shaped bracket clock. This clock is much nicer in the flesh and looks superb . I am certain that the buyer will be delighted with their purchase. If the buy it now price is paid in full then I will deliver and set up the clock free of charge to the English mainland,Wales and the Scottish lowlands.I will also provide a 12 months guarantee under these circumstances. This is the same service that is provided by a high street retailer without the customer having to pay for the overheads If a lesser off is accepted then this will be sold as a trade sale with the clock as described and with shipping costs the responsibility of the buyer. I will ship this clock worldwide . UK buyers are asked to use alternative means of payment to Pay Pal if at all possible. Collection is available by prior arrangement All goods paid using Pay pal will only be shipped to the pay pal confirmed address All goods will be shipped by courier ie UPS,DHL,Fed Ex or similar and will be tracked and signed for.I will not ship unless it is tracked and signed for. If you wish to use your own courier I will do all I can to assist. I only charge actual costs incurred for shipping BUT I will use a large box with plenty of packing to avoid damage and this will make shipping (particulary to foreign countries) a little more expensive due to volumetric weight. Custom made boxes, bubble wrap and peanuts all cost money and the cost of these materials will be added to the cost of shipping. For example a Vienna wall clock costs me £15 in materials.I do not charge for my time for packing. Every care will be taken when packing but no liability will be accepted for damage by the couriers and it must be remembered that it is virtually impossible to guarrantee 100 percent that a peice of glass may not be damaged on the odd occasion. Insurance is a difficult and expensive area with respect to antiques and usually has a low ceiling that is why I use recognised tracked and signed for couriers and do not insure seperately. If you wish to seperately insure your item I will do all I can to assist but the responsibility to arrange the said insurance is with the buyer Terms of SaleIt is requested that all buyers contact me within 24 hours and pay in full within 7 days unless a prior arrangement is made Please do not agree to buy something unless you intend to pay.
