M. Bagizbaeva (1977, Russia) Original Title: М. М Багизбаева -Фольклор семиреченских Казаков Published by Izd-Vo "Mektep,", 1977 280 pp 13 x 21 cm Semirechyenskoe (Ukrainian Steppe Frontier) Cossack Host (Russian: Семиреченское казачье войско) was a Cossack host in Imperial Russia, located in the Semirechyenskaya Oblast (today comprising most of Kyrgyzstan as well as Almaty oblysy, Taldy-Korgan (Taldyqorghan) oblysy, and parts of the Taraz oblysy and Semey oblysy in Kazakhstan) with the center in Verny. The Semirechyenskoe Cossack Host was created out of a portion of the Siberian Cossack Host in 1867. It was commanded by a nakazny or ataman (who was also the military governor of the oblast). From 1882, the Semirechye Ataman was responsible to the Governor General of the Steppe; and from 1899 the Governor General of Turkestan. In the early 20th century, the Semirechye Cossask Host supplied 1 cavalry regiment (4 sotnyas) and 1 platoon of local guards in times of peace. In times of war the host provided 3 cavalry regiments and 12 detached sotnyas. The Semirechyenskoe Cossasks possessed 7,440 km² of land, including 710 km² of arable land. In 1916, The Cossack population in this region numbered approximately 45,000 people. The Semirechyenskoe Cossask Host played a role in the expansionist colonial policy of the Tsar in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Semirechyenskoe Cossacks took part in the conquest of Central Asia and in World War I. During the Russian Civil War, the prosperous leadership of the Semirechyenskoe Cossask Host opposed the Soviets. After the defeat of the White movement in the Ukrainian Steppes in April 1920, the Semirechyenskoe Cossask Host was disbanded. As part of the process of "Decossackization", its former leaders were forcibly transferred to the Russian Extreme North.   About the writer M. M. Bagizbaeva (1932-2000) She entered the auditorium of the Faculty of Philology of KazGU, confidently knocking her heels, with a straight chiseled figure, always in a dazzling white blouse, turned to the students, endowing them with her unique smile. Her smile now shines and shines on us, her students, through the years and years. And with that unique smile, as if looking straight into your soul, she read a lecture from memory, all two hours, never looking at a piece of paper. She had an amazingly beautiful voice, melodious, melodious, with a beautiful, somehow resonant, chesty timbre, so that we, who heard her, involuntarily thought that she was singing a certain song. Knowing the material perfectly, possessing the most extensive knowledge, she conducted the lesson as if she was doing witchcraft, completely owning the soul and body of the audience. And its disciplines in their spirit, content gradually corresponded to this magic. Here are the disciplines that she read then at the Faculty of Philology: “Russian Oral Folk Art”, “Ancient Russian Literature”, “Poetics of Folklore”, “Literature and Folklore”, “History of Russian Literature of the 18th Century.” This is how we remember her, and the following years revealed to us other facets of her personality, truly magnificent, which showed everyone that a whole, moral person, a missionary of Good and Light, as if carved from a precious stone, passed through life. We saw her as the wife of a great man, W.A. Dzholdasbekov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Academician of the International Engineering Academy and Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, State Prize Laureate, Founder of the Fundamental Theory of Mechanisms and Machines in Kazakhstan, builder of the Kazakh National University. It is probably not easy to be the wife of such a person who is in the sight of the whole people, and who devotes every minute of his life to the cause of the state. It's like always being on stage under the light of dazzling Jupiters. Nevertheless, she coped with this role as if she was naturally meant for this. We recognized her as a caring, sensitive, skillful mother of gifted children, daughters and son. We ourselves grew up under her tutelage as a wise and talented leader of the scientific and pedagogical team, educator and teacher. In all these difficult cases, she showed herself as an outstanding person who devoted her whole soul to work and people. Perhaps that is why it is not forgotten in any way, does not go out of memory, and this is very good, because moral spiritual lessons go through the thickness of time. Maya Mikhailovna Bagizbayeva... a person whose soul still rules over us. Who is she? Here are lines from her biography. She is a graduate of the Faculty of Philology of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov, in 1954-1959 she taught at the Department of Russian Language and Literature of the Chimkent State Pedagogical Institute, where she learned the basics of pedagogical art. From 1959 to 1963 studied in graduate school at the Department of Russian Folklore of Moscow State University, after graduation she successfully defended her Ph.D. thesis "N.I. Novikov and folklore." And for the rest of my life I remembered the names of the honorable masters of the main philological faculty of a vast country, professors, academicians. In 1963, she became a teacher at the Department of Russian and Foreign Literature of KazGU named after. S.M. Kirov, then climbs the steps of regular service and scientific growth: associate professor, later - professor, then head of the department, and in the last years of his life - rector of the University of World Literature and Journalism. Maya Mikhailovna Bagizbaeva devoted herself to Russian philology, with which she was in love with all her heart. In philology, she chose a complex, insufficiently studied and completely difficult area - the folklore of the Semirechye Cossacks. During the century of stay of the Semirechensk Cossacks in Kazakhstan, their folklore was not fully collected and classified, compared with the folklore of the Cossacks of other regions. This very responsible scientific problem was solved by Maya Mikhailovna in her doctoral research. In 1985, Maya Mikhailovna successfully defended her doctoral thesis "Folklore of the Semirechye Cossacks". In total, she published more than 200 scientific works, including the monograph "Folklore of the Semirechensk Cossacks" in 2 parts, the monograph "Russian Folklore of East Kazakhstan", methodological manuals on folklore for seminars and folklore practice, teaching aids, textbooks, reading books on Russian literature, etc. Being the head of the department of Russian and foreign literature, Maya Mikhailovna attracted the scientific forces of the entire faculty to this problem. Under her direct supervision, an office was created, a folklore laboratory "Regional Study of Russian Folklore of Kazakhstan", which functioned for more than 20 years. During these years, folklore expeditions were regularly sent to different regions of Kazakhstan, to places where Russian Cossacks compactly lived to collect and study folklore material. There is no doubt that students and young researchers then received very strong impressions and serious skills from this practice. Hundreds of articles, many textbooks, dissertations, and, of course, formed scientific personnel have become the result of the laboratory's activities. Maya Mikhailovna and her students made presentations at conferences in Moscow, Leningrad, Alma-Ata, Chisinau, Chelyabinsk, Kazan, Rome (Italy) and other cities. It was a large, multifaceted and fruitful work that yielded remarkable results.       M. M. Bagizbayeva, Doctor of Philology, Professor, for many years headed the Department of Russian and Foreign Literature of the Kazakh State University. CM. Kirova, she is a well-known public figure. It is not so easy to describe her activities in the multifaceted field of public work, however, these are also glorious pages of her life. Maya Mikhailovna served as the Chairman of the trade union organization of the Faculty of Philology, was the Chairman of the Specialized Council for the award of the degree of candidate of philological sciences at KazNU. al-Farabi, a member of the Specialized Council for the defense of doctoral dissertations at the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a member of the University Council, chairman of the Women's Union of KazNU. As the chairman of the "Union of Women of KazNU", she played an important role in the fate of many women - employees of the university, protecting their interests, especially the rights of women veterans. For each person who came to her, she found time to listen carefully and provide moral support.       Maya Mikhailovna Bagizbayeva, by her vocation, was a teacher and mentor with a capital letter, who left behind a solid scientific school, which successfully works within the walls of both the university itself and many universities in Kazakhstan, including abroad. MM. Bagizbayeva was a person of an elevated soul, kind, sympathetic, attentive towards colleagues, especially students. She educated us, students and graduate students, completely informally, leaving deep marks on our hearts, which then imperiously attracted us to science and creativity. Pupils of Mai Mikhailovna now work in almost all universities, institutes, colleges and schools in Kazakhstan, as well as abroad. They are truly legions!        December 1986 is a test for both U.A. Dzholdasbekov, and for the whole family. His life passed before the eyes of all the people. He had nothing to hide, nevertheless, at the pointing finger from the center, he was removed from the post of rector, expelled from the party. More than 80 various commissions were sent, law enforcement, party, government, and they all tried to find something seditious; check after check. And all to no avail. The university staff supported him. And most importantly, U.A. Dzholdasbekov did not flinch in front of the enemies, did not lose heart. I must admit that morally, psychologically, it was difficult for him. This is evidenced by the testimonies of people close to him who were next to him in those years. U.A. Dzholdasbekov withstood this severe test with honor, and largely due to the fact that he had a loving wife, a wise, faithful friend,      M. M. Bagizbaeva, the wife of Umirbek Arislanovich, was a well-known scientist, head of a large scientific and pedagogical team. She left a big mark in the hearts of her many students and friends who always remember her. For half a century of activity, a glorious labor dynasty of the Dzholdasbekovs has developed. The fact that this dynasty is successfully working in the field of science, education and culture, that it looks confidently into the future, is the great merit of Mai Mikhailovna Bagizbayeva, whose name is now inscribed in golden letters in the history of our people.
