Unfortunately the case is missing the lower base section. Panelled trunk door. Non square glazed hood door characteristic of most lantern clock longcases. Dentil moulded cornice. Decorative reeded mouldings flanking the trunk door. Probably from Lancashire or one of the northern counties of England. Similar lantern clock longcases originating in Lancashire (amongst others) are illustrated in 'Lantern Clocks and Their Makers' by Brian Loomes (pub 2008 Mayfield Books). The case is basically in good structural condition with the polish likewise but there are scrapes and patches where the polish has disappeared owing tot the hood being stood on a damp floor or somesuch. For restoration Dimensions Overall height 58" x 15 width " Overall width (cornice) 18 3/4" Depth (cornice) 11 1/2" Glass opening 13 5/8" x 9 7/8" Distance glass to inside face of backboard 7 3/4" Please see images below.
