Seller: iwcforme (1,078) 99.4%, Location: Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, Ships to: GB, Item: 291938374542 This is one for the military clock collectors, particularly enthusiasts of the AM clocks I have stripped cleaned and rebuilt this to a high standard and it's ready to go. It's the best authentic AM clock I have worked on This is an opportunity to acquire a genuine rare 1941 SM& Co chain driven movement ,fully restored. Very few were produced. If not the best its got to be in the top 1 In "A history of clocks in the RAF" by Lt. Col. BOB GARDENER, a leading authority on RAF clocks , page 167, states "a handful of 1941 SM & Co white dial clocks have been recorded from the serial run 13173 to 13313 plus one sector clock" and on page 373 ""1937-1940 "and spares thereafter"" on page 312 a picture of back plate of a SM & Co ops room clock which has similar markings to the Markings on the movement backplate No 13319 SM & Co 1941 AM also marked 13319 on front plate This leads me to believe that as the markings are so crisp and original it was possibly never cased but kept in storage ( see additional notes below from Lt.Col.Bob Gardener Happy to sell so offered now, but also includes a quality suitable fusee pendulum of the period to go with it. If not achieved ( please note its not a fire sale) then I will source military station wall / ops clock case and re-case myself. In fact if you have an original good condition AM / RAF station clock case and/or dial for sale, or both even then please get in touch. I would much prefer to finish the project myself, but do have other priorities at present TOTALLY GUARANTEED Call me if you require any further information 07811 780653 or message me via ebay or iwcforme@aol.com Happy to post......... but in UK only This is a genuine AM clock movement now refurbished to excellent condition and working order. However It is "sold as seen" purely as it will need setting up in its new case and timing , but that's not a problem to clock restorer, amateur or professional additional information received today 12/11/2016 from Lt.Col.Bob Gardener, author of "A history of clocks in the RAF" Both Elliott and SM & Co produced a few clocks during the war years with serial numbers 'out of sequence' around the start of a new year. For example two Elliott serial numbers from 1940 occur late in the 1939 run, and one 1939 number is dated 1940 and some 1940 numbers appear at the beginning of the 1941 run. I suspect it reflects the working practices of the manufacturer, where for example a movement that had a fault on test late in 1939 was ready for despatch early in 1940. This would indicate that the year was added only when the clock was ready for dispatch Thank you Sir for your input. Bob's book is a "must have" for all RAF clocks collector, enthusiast & clock restorers. It is a great reference book and I have used it on many occasions . A reflective Rememberance Sunday to you all Condition: Restored to excellent working order, Age: Antique, Post-1900, Sub-Type: Chain Driven Fusee, Material: Brass, Type: Wall clock, Features: chain driven fusee, Style/ Origin/ Theme: English
