ELEPHANT HUNTING IN PORTUGUESE EAST AFRICA by Jose Pardal was published by SAFARI PRESS in 1990 and is the sixth book in the "THE CLASSICS IN AFRICAN HUNTING SERIES".
**********************************************
The SAFARI PRESS was founded in 1984. The emphasis of the press was African big-game hunting from the onset, but they soon branched out to North American and Asian big game, mountain hunting, wing shooting and sporting firearms. There limited editions series are a reflection of the hunting and sporting firearms as it is and was in the twentieth and the twenty-first centuries and they have now produced more original limited edition titles than either the Amwell Press or the Derrydale Press. With the exception of three books, all of there limited edition books have been original titles not published before in the English language. The titles in the series include original works by professional hunters, books by active sport hunters, anthologies that contained selections from both contemporary hunters and classic works and reprints of sought after titles. The titles are limited to 1000 copies or less, with beautiful cloth or leather bindings and slipcases. Most of these titles are SIGNED by the author. In many editions you will find great photographs from the authors personal collections while in others you will find illustrations from artists that capture the feel of the stories.

ELEPHANT HUNTING IN PORTUGUESE EAST AFRICA chronicles the hunting-life story of a nearly vanished breed of man: one who single-handidly hunted elephants over a thirty-two period without the help of any professional hunter. Over the course of thirty-two years he shot nearly 100 elephants, the great majority above average tuskers in Portuguese East Africa, (Mozambique.)
