£3,300.00 or Best Offer 24d, 14-Day Returns

Seller: theantiquefurniturecompany (20) 100%, Location: Fife, Ships to: GB, Item: 261506198172 This is an attractive mid Victorian ormolu-mounted, burr walnut and boxwood inlaid credenza dating to circa 1870. It has a breakfront top with a delicately inlaid and ormolu edged frieze, the central panelled cupboard door is centred with a Sèvres-style painted porcelain plaque of a couple releasing a dove in a ribbon-tied oval frame. It has bowed glass display doors to either side each enclosing a velvet lined interior and two boxwood line inlaid shelves. The panels and glass to the doors are all edged with beaded mounts and finished with boxwood stringing and the whole piece is raised on turned ebonised feet. This credenza is in lovely mellow condition for it’s age, it has faded over the years and the velvet lining may well be the original so is slightly frayed and lifting in places, the lock is missing from the left door and there is no key for the locks on the other two doors however they do close firmly. We could always add magnetic catches, alternatively a good locksmith should be able to cut keys to work the locks. The beading on the doors is not straight in places. Important Note About Antiques Antiques have long histories of daily use and as such, over time they can gain minor scratches, marks, knocks, shrinkage splits, signs of old woodworm, lifts or losses to any veneer, which along with daily care and years of polishing go together to create individual character and patina. We describe any flaws in the items that fall outside of this bracket but cannot describe each of these marks separately. If anything, we tend to be over critical of items but if you are not sure please do not buy without clarifying or take the view that the only way to have it absolutely perfect is to have it fully and comprehensively restored.
