Vintage Meiji Period Japanese Ginbari Cloisonne Vase

 

This unusual vase features a convovulous (morning glory) plant where the leaves and stem are rendered in plain enamel but the flowers are highlighted by using the ginbari technique giving them a luminescent effect.

 

Its condition is very good with only four very minor cracks in the glaze. It sits evenly and displays well.

 

It measures 18.5cm (7 ¼”) high by 7.5cm (3”) wide at the shoulder.
