You are bidding on that rarest of British menswear pieces, a genuine demob suit. No makers label. Ink stamps from the issuing or inspecting body visible on waistcoat lining and one of the trouser pockets. A simple but elegant cut with wide Oxford-bag style trousers which feature buttons for braces and a button fly.
Condition: Signs of wear consistent with age and usage. The jacket has several small moth holes the majority of which have been crudely darned. The trousers have more extensive moth damage the majority of which have likewise been darned. Despite these unfortunate examples of the ravages of time and nature the suit remains structurally sound and eminently wearable. The sympathetic qualities of the dark blue pin-stripe fabric meaning that such deficiencies as there are, are only visible under close scrutiny.
