Arrival on from 3pm You'll want to settle in before dusk falls. In the wagon the cute little Queenie stove will keep you cosy, boil your kettle and we'll provide toasting forks for you to toast muffins and crumpets at your leisure. Without electricity you'll be dining by candlelight and feeding the wood-burning stove with sticks. Gypsy Rose occupies a spot under an ancient apple tree in the orchard, overlooking the brook and waterfall. Sit quietly and watch for the heron, wagtails and maybe even the kingfisher to visit the brook just a few yards from your door. Ducks are guaranteed visitors, and if you're lucky you may see trout leaping the waterfall, or even a salmon in the brook. As the sun sets over the Forest behind Gypsy Rose tiny lights in the trees make the bower pretty. Why not light a campfire* in the fire-pit, open a bottle and sit out under the stars? Wood-smoke, the crackle of the fire, the whoosh of the waterfall and the hooting of owls is all there is to disturb your peace - it's ideal for a pleasant chat, a quiet catch-up, or even a romantic down-on-one-knee moment! Next morning, you'll have all you need for a full Forest breakfast - sausages, bacon, eggs, tomatoes & mushrooms and a basket of fresh home-made breads and croissants. Light the fire and start cooking! Explore the Forest (bike hire, pony trekking and canoe hire are all nearby) on Sat & Sun - check out isn't till 6pm! Left on Feb 21, 2019 for a stay in Feb 2019My daughter and I spent a magical 2-nights in the Gypsy Rose caravan living the simple life. We played with the gentle, friendly resident dog, fed the ducks, scoured the river for treasure and sat around the fire toasting marshmallows. The caravan was surprisingly roomy and comfortable and instantly became a home from home. Mary was a lovely thoughtful host, providing delicious bread and pastries as well as plenty of fascinating information about the local area and some much needed fire reviving assistance! We will definitely be back later in the year to experience gypsy life in the sunshine too! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- via email 24/02/19 Hi, We just wanted to send another thanks for the lovely weekend that we had at The Gypsy Rose. We felt so welcomed, and we loved the experience. We have spread the word and hope to be able to visit again. Many thanks, Etta and Al ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lorretta on Trip Advisor Magical little retreat full of charm Left on Aug 24, 2018 for a stay in Aug 2018Set on a quiet piece of land, this charming traditional caravan is situated next to a small brook and lovely waterfall. The owner is warm and friendly and can't do enough for you and you are encouraged to enjoy the fruit from the trees if you wish to. I found it to be a very enjoyable stay and would recommend to anyone wishing for a true countryside escape.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Casey on Trip Advisor Nature weekend away! Left on May 17, 2018 for a stay in May 2018What a lovely time we spent at the gypsy rose! We stayed in the wagon and while it was a completely different experience, it was exactly what we needed to unwind! A night spent by a fire, good company and the stars above, what more could you ask for? And the bonus, a relaxing river and waterfall not too far away. Mary was a great and friendly host who made us feel very welcome! Her hospitality was awesome and the homemade breakfast we had the next day was delicious! All fresh from the farm products!
