Item:292762796227This is a beautiful and unique large antique oak dresser estimated to date from the 16th century onwards that would grace any room. Imagine the history this dresser has seen in its hundreds of years in existence! It appears to have evolved from other pieces of antique furniture over the centuries but none of the construction appears to be recent. The oldest parts seem to be the carved plinth at the top and the majority of the base including the doors and drawers, which have a rough construction with work marks where they have been fashioned from the original timber. Please see the photos for further detail of the condition as it is impossible to describe the dresser comprehensively, but I will give an overview in brief: There is a small amount of historic woodworm. The hardware seems to be antique but not original and it does not all match, and the top surface of the base has received an amateur job with an orbital sander at some point. In accordance with age the doors/ drawers are a little wobbly and need to be handled with care. There is a piece of the later cornice missing. In my opinion these features tell the history of the dresser and give an indication of it’s age. The piece measures 158cm x 192cm x 56cm. This is a unique opportunity to obtain a piece with immense character that would make a fabulous focal point in any period property.
