Please study the photographs carefully which convey a thousand words and constitute an important part of the description. This item has developed an incredible and beautiful warm patina over the years. We can find no significant wear or damage to this item, which is unusual for such a highly decorated item. There is a very little wear to the extremities as to be expected of this age of item, and historic wear and worm (fully treated) chiefly to the pilasters to the base, which are extremely ancient and worn. We generally leave items as they are, as many buyers prefer them that way. This item comes straight out of the church. Any number of pics cannot do this item justice. Viewing recommended. Excellent condition with only the odd mark as would be expected of an item of this age. Nothing that detracts. You will not be disappointed. Please study my other auctions for other unique / unusual antiques and curios. Please note that our items are mainly antique / vintage and therefore will inevitably show some signs of their past history and usage. We endeavour to point out any major defects that we find. We encourage and welcome viewings, so you can ensure you are satisfied before bidding. We also welcome and encourage any questions, before the end of the auction, as we want you to be satisfied before you bid and pleased with your purchase. If your preference is for unique antique / vintage items, look no further… we will be delighted to help, if we possibly can. Furthermore, if you are not entirely satisfied, please do let us know and give us the opportunity to remedy. We generally leave items in their original condition, as that is the way many buyers prefer them. However, at the Buy It Now price, we will be delighted to let our restorer give it a polish, if that is your preference. In architectureIn architecture telamons are colossal male figures used as columns. These are also called atlas, atlantes or atlantids; they are the male versions of caryatids. Antique Flemish style furniture 1550 - 1890 Flemish furniture was popular in 17th century. The wood most used was oak and the distinguishing feature was a profusion of elaborate carving. The furniture was often heavy. The so-called Flemish scroll, an S or C curved ornamental form in which a scroll is broken by an angle, was prominent. So was the Flemish foot: a scroll-like ending to an S or C curved leg. Product Type: Library Bookcases, Age: Pre-1800, Style: Art Deco, Original/Reproduction: Original, Material: Oak
