Seller: holtantiquesltd (617) 100%, Location: Walsingham, Ships to: Americas, Europe, Asia, AU, Item: 272729004928 A superb 18th Century English antique West-Country made Windsor armchair constructed from ash and elm. This chair would appear to be identical to Captain Cook's chair (see image 7) located in a collection at Trinity House, Hull (see images of Cook's chair) which was on display during 2012 at the Windsor Chair Exhibition at West Wycombe Park. Cook's chair was constructed circa 1776 and used by him on his last voyage. Our example was most probably from the same West country workshop and of similar date given design and construction with the three-part arm, elm seat, turned legs and "H" stretcher. There are also traces of original green paint.
