Seller: hogmore2012 (150) 100%, Location: Swadlincote, Ships to: GB, Item: 332701053265 A good mid 18th century lantern clock with ORIGINAL VERGE ESCAPEMENT made and signed by George Clarke Leadenhall Street LONDON. Father & son are recorded as working in London from 1727 to 1787 famous makers who were renowned for making clocks for the Turkish and Eastern market. A few old repairs and replacements and originally with an alarm mechanism mounted on the inside of the back door long since removed. A really good genuine period clock. Any inspection welcome. Please note I purchased this clock from a collector friend in the USA who sent the clock and weight in separate packing boxes so the weight would not bang around inside the box containing the clock. The clock arrived in good shape but I never received the package containing the weight so can only assume it was lost in transit. Please take into account the clock is offered for sale without a weight when considering an offer. The rest is all complete with the exception of the missing alarm and when slight downward pressure is applied to the pulley it ticks and strikes just as it should. Condition: THE USUAL OLD REPAIRS AND RESTORATION ONE WOULD EXPECT TO FIND IN A CLOCK WHICH IS OVER TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY YEARS OLD, Age: Antique, Pre-1900, Material: brass & steel, Type: Original verge escapement, Sub-Type: Famous maker, Clock Type: Lantern Clock, Style/ Origin/ Theme: Mid 18th century
