Hello & welcome

I am selling this vintage Levi & Salaman solid Sterling Silver baby feeding set.

~ Inscribed “Joyce” who was my grandmother. This would’ve been a christening present to her as a baby which makes it a good age.

~ Over the next few months I will be selling pieces of our family’s silver so if vintage silverware is your thing, follow me & keep a look out as there’s going to be some old & interesting pieces.

~ About food pushers. Silver is a precious metal so when presented to an infant, a silver gift offered future health & wealth. These sets were given as gifts at christenings with the promise of happiness & prosperity. Food Pushers were common in Victorian society when it was rude for anyone, even children, to touch food with their hands!


Description / Details ~

A solid silver set of a spoon & food pusher crafted from solid sterling silver.

These two utensils are made from a fully hallmarked solid, bright & shiny Sterling Silver.

Measurements: spoon measures 90 x 30mm with a bowl diameter of 40 x 25mm. The pusher measures 85mm in length with a width up to 14mm & the shovel-like end 43 x 13mm.

Weight: 33g.

Fully hallmarked: L & S, anchor assay Birmingham, lion, O with a line of numbers RoNo340027 which indicates the design was registered in 1899 but the O in the hallmark implies it is later in date by a few years.

In good vintage condition. However, it does appear that there is a break in the spoon handle & the handle joint has come away a bit from the pusher. See last two photos.
