Three large D Napier & Sons Ltd plate spanners for aircraft engine maintenance. Two are marked DN&S, the third is not, but they are all from the same source (and toolbox!). All bear a National Register (NR) number, one also has a military crow's-foot mark, indicating that the spanners may well date from WW2.

The spanners comprise two double open-ended spanners and one single open-ended spanner as follows:

1: 11/16" x 7/8" BSF. 8.75" long. Bears the script "DN&S NR81973". Jaw sizes marked.

2: 7/8" x 1" BSF. 9.25" long. Bears the script "DN&S  NR81974". Crow's-foot mark and partial maker's mark. Jaw sizes marked.

3" 1.81" AF. 12.5" long. Bears the script "NR.84311". Jaw size marked. It is very unusual to have inch sizes marked as a decimal, rather than a fraction (it equates to 1 - 13/16").

The tools have been cleaned, finished in light oil and are ready for use.
